Aruba: Solo Adventures on One Happy Island

Hey Darlings,

Ever dreamt of escaping to a Caribbean paradise with endless sunshine and miles of stunning beaches? Well, I did just that on a solo adventure to the beautiful island of Aruba. It was a week full of unforgettable experiences, delicious food, and the warmest hospitality. So, grab your favorite drink and join me on a virtual tour of my Aruban escapade!

Smooth Landing at Hyatt Place Aruba Airport

My adventure kicked off the moment I landed. Staying at the Hyatt Place Aruba Airport was a brilliant choice—just steps from the plane to paradise! The friendly staff welcomed me warmly, and the modern, spacious rooms had everything I needed. The rooftop pool with its island views was the perfect spot to unwind and start soaking in the island vibes.

Flamingo Frolicking on Renaissance Island

Renaissance Island was pure magic. Imagine white sands, turquoise waters, and… flamingos! These elegant pink birds strutted along the beach, perfect for photo ops. Fun fact: their vibrant color comes from their diet of algae and crustaceans. Plus, I met some friendly iguanas sunbathing on the rocks. It was surreal and utterly enchanting.

South Beach Sizzle: Bars, Beats, and Beachside Bliss

As the sun set, I headed to South Beach Aruba, where the nightlife buzzes with color, music, and energy. I danced to salsa and reggaeton at various bars, sipping on the famous “Aruba Ariba” cocktail at Bugaloe Beach Bar & Grill while the sunset painted the sky. The mix of tourists and locals made it feel like one big, happy party.

All Aboard the Kukoo Kunuku Party Bus!

Think the night ends when the bars close? Think again! The Kukoo Kunuku Party Bus is a mobile fiesta, taking us to the best bars on the island. The bus was a whirlwind of music, laughter, and new friendships. Our guide kept the energy high with games, sing-alongs, and plenty of maracas. Each stop had its own unique vibe, making it a fun and safe way to experience Aruba’s nightlife.

Sipping and Swirling at Alto Vista Winery

After a night of fun, I slowed things down with a visit to Alto Vista Winery. The tour through sun-drenched vineyards was fascinating, and the wine tasting was a delight. From crisp whites to robust reds, each sip was a new discovery. The standout? Their signature “Aloe Vera Wine”—a refreshing, uniquely Aruban creation.

A Culinary Journey Through Aruba

Aruba’s cuisine is a melting pot of flavors. I made it my mission to try as many local dishes as possible. The hearty “Keshi Yena” and fresh seafood at Zeerovers and The West Deck were highlights. But the true gem was The Old Cunucu House, where I savored authentic Aruban home cooking, including a mind-blowing goat stew.

Island Insights: The 9am Tour

To see more of the island, I joined a 9am tour. Our guide, a native Aruban, took us to the California Lighthouse, the Natural Bridge, and the Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins. The tour also included the Aloe Vera Factory, where I learned about Aruba’s aloe industry. Each stop revealed a new layer of the island’s rich history and natural beauty.

The Heart of Aruba: Its People

What truly made my trip special were the people. From the warm greetings to unexpected acts of kindness, the Aruban people made me feel like a welcomed guest. I’ll never forget Sheena, who let me dine without a reservation, or John, who showed me hidden beaches and shared stories of island life. These connections turned my solo trip into a journey filled with laughter and new friendships.

As I boarded my flight home, my heart was full, and my camera roll was overflowing. Aruba gave me more than just a beach vacation—it showed me the joy of stepping out of my comfort zone, connecting with new people, and embracing new experiences.

So, if you’re considering a solo adventure, pack your bags, book that ticket, and get ready for the trip of a lifetime in Aruba. The One Happy Island is waiting to welcome you with open arms, just as it did for me. Who knows? You might just find your own piece of paradise along the way.

With Love,

Anna H.
